Connectivity Recommendations
EyeMed’s trading partners range from small providers submitting a handful of transactions, to large payers with which EyeMed trades hundreds of transactions per day. This wide range of trading partners will be accommodated by the following data connectivity options the choice of which option really is up to the trading partner.
Currently Available for Testing:
FTP FTP is preferred for larger files, ie enrollment files. This requires implementation at both ends of the trading partner stream, but easily facilitates system-to-system communication, so neither partner needs to execute a manual process.
• With Encryption This is available using PGP. This option encrypts data at the file level before it is transmitted. It also compresses the data, which uses less bandwidth when transmitting the file.
• Secure FTP This option encrypts data at the protocol level. The data does not have to be encrypted before it is transmitted. This requires a secure FTP client which is a nominal software purchase
• Secure FTP with Encryption This is a combination of the options listed above.
